Description of research conducted in the Laboratory

The Laboratory of Biosensors and Analytical Microsystems carries out research on the development of bioanalytical microtools for the determination of various types of bioanalytes, including biologically active substances. The first group of microanalytical instruments are optical sensors for surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and electrochemical sensors. In order to obtain the appropriate sensitivity and selectivity/specificity for the substances to be determined, sensitive layers are developed that match the detection method using nanotechnology, including the deposition and production of nanoparticles and nanostructured (bio)chemically active layers, and surface biofunctionalization, i.e. immobilization of bioreceptors such as enzymes, antibodies, DNA. The second group of micro-instruments are microfluidic bioanalytical systems for point of care (POC) testing, in which there are built-in systems for sample preparation, (bio)chemical microreactors and detection cells.

Scope of the research to be carried out by the employee

Currently, the basic multilayer structures of electrochemical sensors in the Laboratory are made with the use of our own direct writing technology, for which multifunctional micro-dosing robots Ultra TT and the latest generation - Ultimus Plus, Nordson EFD are used. The tasks to be performed by the Employee include designing, developing a technological process for deposition of various materials, fabrication of sensor structures and (bio)functional 1D, 2D and 3D structures and layer systems using the above-mentioned microdosing robots as well as conducting preliminary studies of the prepared structures and systems for development of bioanalytical microtools and the analysis of the obtained results. In the perspective of the Employee's professional development, the possibility of preparing applications for funding research projects in a specific research area and a doctoral dissertation is taken into account.
